No, Targeted Services is a completely free program aimed at assisting students with a specific need.
Is transportation available?
For Youth Matters, parents are responsible for transportation.
During Summer Academy,
bussing services are available.
What if my child cannot attend all sessions? Can they still enroll?

Targeted Services Overview
Targeted Services is the term used to describe the programs offered to provide additional academic support to students at Middle School East outside of traditional school hours. The MSE Summer Academy and Youth Matters programs are outlined below. In both programs, students receive direct instruction from MSE staff members, tailored to the individual needs of each student in the areas of Mathematics, Language Arts, study skills, organization, and work completion. The Summer Academy curriculum also features lessons from the Character Strong program, which is utilized for all students in STMA schools throughout the academic school year.
Summer Academy
The MSE Summer Academy program runs Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM for three weeks before the start of the school year. Students in 5th through 8th grade during the previous school year are eligible to register. The Summer Academy curriculum consists of academic skill development, Mathematics, Language Arts, and service learning projects, which may include field trips outside of the community. Transportation is provided for the 2024 MSE Summer Academy session.

Youth Matters
The MSE Youth Matters program runs from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school and from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM on Friday mornings before school. All currently enrolled MSE students are eligible to participate. The Youth Matters curriculum consists of academic skill development, Mathematics, Language Arts, with an emphasis on organization and work completion. Transportation is not provided for Youth Matters.

- Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
- Time: 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM on Fridays
