Spelling Bee

The STMA Middle Schools District Spelling Bee is held in January at the Middle School West Auditorium. Students from Middle School East and West will take a written test in December with the top students qualifying for the District Bee. The top four spellers from the District Bee will move on to the Regional Bee in Sartell in February.

Competition Structure and Timeline

  • Preliminary Round:  Students take a written spelling test in their respective buildings  (Middle School East or West).
  • District Bee:  Held in January at the Middle School West Auditorium. The top spellers from both middle schools face off in an oral bee.
  • Regional Bee:  The top 4 spellers from the STMA District Bee advance to the Regional Spelling Bee, typically held in February.
